An Easy Way to Adopt Healthy Habits

Ready, Set, Go! 5210 is a nationally recognized childhood obesity prevention program begun in Maine and now in 37 states and Pierce and Kitsap counties in WA state.

Olympic Peninsula Healthy Community Coalition partners with schools, child care and out-of-school programs, healthcare practices and community organizations to change environments where children and families live, learn work and play.

The program has now grown to positively influence health and chronic disease prevention across the lifespan.

Join Our 5210 Challenge

During July 2019, nineteen community leaders stepped up and joined the 5210 Team for our second annual Healthy Leaders 5210 Challenge. They led by example and inspired others to adopt the 5210 healthy habits into each day. Please consider accepting the challenge yourself!

  • Eat 5 servings of fruit and vegetables
  • Reduce recreational screen time to 2 hours or less
  • Engage in 1 hour of physical activity
  • Drink 0 sugar-sweetened beverages

During July 2018, community leaders from across Clallam County embarked on a month-long challenge to live healthier lives. The 12 leaders accepted our challenge to “Live 5-2-1-0” and tried to incorporate four healthy habits into each day for the entire month.

Do you realize how much sugar you’re consuming? Try checking labels and learning Sugar Math!

For Example: A large soda may contain 70 grams of sugar. 70 grams divided by 4 equals 17.5 teaspoons of sugar! Yikes that’s a lot of sugar in one soda.

Here’s another way to think about sugar…

One 20 ONCE SODA can have the same amount of sugar as 6 DONUTS or 18 COOKIES.
